Felting Demonstration with Diane Caswell Christian
On Wednesday, February 11, the Agawam Community Artists and Artisans will host Diane Caswell Christian, an accomplished artist known for her work in felting.
This special demonstration will take place at the Agawam Community Library
750 Cooper Street, Agawam, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room.
Diane lives and teaches in Suffield, Connecticut, where she runs her Felt Inspiration Studio. In addition to felting, she is also an acrylic and oil painter.
Her primary focus is felting, a medium she describes as both grounding and deeply expressive:
“Serendipity brought felt making into my life at a time when I needed to reconnect with the past and find a way to express my artistic side. The softness of the fibers, the feel of the soapy water, and the magic moment when the loose fibers become felt appealed to me. It often feels as though I am just a facilitator for the art—as though the pieces have their own need to be created. My landscapes reflect a sense of peace, creating worlds that invite the viewer to enter and rest. Working with these materials is very grounding for me.”
