Bruce Kulas is a stone sculptor who lives in Southwick, MA. He has been consistently accepted to the Southwick Cultural Council’s annual Fine Arts Exhibition since 2009. He received honorable mentions in the Friends of the Agawam Public Library’s 3D juried Art Show, displayed at the Southwick Public Library, and the West Springfield Kiwanis Art Festival, and has a piece on permanent display at the Institute for American Indian Studies Museum in Washington, CT. He looks to nature for inspiration and leans mostly toward realism when sculpting his Steatite (Soapstone) creations. Bruce has taught Adult Ed classes on stone sculpting, presented to high school AP classes about soapstone sculpture and the ancient technology of the early native peoples. The neolithic use of soapstone was the main influence in his artistic endeavor. A locksmith/cabinet maker by trade, he has a well rounded knowledge of tools and materials that leads to making his own tools and repurposing others to fill the needs in creating his art.
