ACAA Monthly Meeting

Agawam Community Artists and Artisans to Host Abstract Artist The Agawam Community Artists and Artisans will host Irene Zytka who remarks that her mixed media art is “art on steroids.” Irene Zytka, was an educator for 35 years, then discovered the creative chapter in her life, specifically mixed media collage. “This new chapter led me to study virtually and at European art retreats with artists from Sweden, Australia, England, Canada and Spain.” She is drawn to textures and colors of nature and she is inspired by her travels to Europe and around the United States. Recycling material is crucial in her work and she incorporates them whenever possible. Irene says, “everything is fair game and I am always looking to see what I can incorporate into a painting. Truly, a mixed media on steroids experience. My Scapes are my interpretation of land and sea paintings using homemade collage papers, a variety of paints, and inks and my own photographs. Because of the multi-layering process that I use, viewers will discover new pieces of the painting each time they look. My hope is that people will find something that resonates with them and bring them joy.” Irene will be demonstrating her art form on Wednesday, October 14 at the Agawam Public Library 750 Cooper Street, Agawam, MA. The demonstration will begin at 6:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public. For further information please contact Ceil Rossi at (413) 207-1247
