Mediums / Interests:
WATERCOLOR, PASTELS, PHOTOGRAPHY, CHARCOAL, GOUACHE,

I am an artist with a fascination for color and taking time to enjoy the little things in life that create beauty in our everyday. That beauty points me back to thanking God for His artistic handiwork in nature all around us. I am forever amazed at the way artwork engenders raw emotions, or a striking point or juxtaposition. I enjoy working with watercolor, pastel, and colored pencil, but I have a special place in my heart for gouache and charcoal. And I love a good long conversation about why you like your favorite artistic medium and how you interpret an art piece.
I was introduced to the arts as a child. My mother brought me to her classes at Springfield Technical Community College and the art professor sat me down with paper and a pile of old calendar pictures to draw from while my mother was occupied. I remember drawing a whale, and my mother’s professor mentioned I should pursue the arts. So, I studied under local artist Donald Blanton in Springfield for two years. In that time, I was introduced to pastels, acrylics, and other art media and presentation, and many pearls of traditional art knowhow. I sold my first piece at our MassMutual Center student show!
I did not actively pursue art development afterward, though doodling in the margins of my high school notebooks, scholastic art competitions, and random sketchbook sessions in my free time over the years spurred on my love of creativity. During this hiatus, I pursued other creative ventures in creative writing, poetry, photography, and textile arts. Fast-forward to present day, and I have reignited the old flicker of joy that sparkles every time I pick up a pencil or take out my paints outside of my banking career! I have a surprising new passion for drawing frogs, and especially like to create works that evoke nostalgia. I also paint ceramics and create fused glass pieces for fun. I received 2nd Place in Pastel/Graphics for my Mint Poison Dart Frog sketched in carbon pencil shown in the 2025 ACAA juried show.
I am a member of the Agawam Community Artists and Artisans, and affiliated with ArtWorks Westfield. I enjoy a lovely art mentorship under Alexandra Walters, and I am easing my way back into the art show scene. You can see my work on Instagram @alexandrakorinarts.
