Style: Tom considers himself an impressionist landscape painter working
primarily in watercolors, oils & mixed media. He’s a minimalist and does not like to overload his paintings with excessive details, but just enough to give the viewer a sense of emotion, mood and an intimate realism. Tom’s diversity includes his abstract paintings and collages.
Composition: When Tom is painting landscapes, his subjects are basically representational or traditional in nature working with a limited color palette. His abstract paintings are geometric design collages (layers of watercolor paper) using complimentary colors, textures and shapes.
Training: Tom initially started out as a self-taught painter in 1972 and later earned his Bachelor of Arts degree as a special Studies Major(Business Administration / Art) from Central Connecticut State University. His first two years of studies were completed at The University of Connecticut. He also attended the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford.
He has participated in numerous non-juried and juried art shows throughout the United States and has shown his work in several galleries, retail businesses and municipal facilities. His paintings are in private collections throughout the United States. His paintings of Oranges, Cherries and Barns are award winners. Tom also
taught Watercolors and Watercolor/Collage painting at the Chapman Cultural Center, Spartanburg, S.C. He is the past President of the Canton Artists’s Guild and the Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg, S.C.
