< Back SUZANNE DISESSA S. Mediums / Interests: OILS Hello! I am a self-taught artist painting in oils. I began my art journey in earnest upon retirement. Most of my work is inspired by experiences in the landscape, and nature. I find refuge in the blue dome of the sky, a flowing river, or the habit of a tree bending to the light. I also love painting animals and birds. I enjoy painting from life setting up still lifes in my studio, en plein air, and also from reference photos I capture on the fly. I can find inspiration just about everywhere. In addition to ACAA I hold memberships with the Academic Artists Association, the Lyme Artists Association, and the New Hartford Artisans Guild. I exhibit in juried art shows in MA, Vt, and CT. My work also has been featured at the Mill District Gallery in Amherst, MA and is currently hanging at the New Hartford Artisans Guild in Ct. < Back ARNIE PAYE Mediums / Interests: WATERCOLOR , WOODCRAFT I have been watercolor painting since 2018 and found it to be an enjoyable learning experience. I primarily paint florals and landscapes, attempting to bring the beauty of nature onto the surface of the paper for the viewer to enjoy. Although I have not had any formal art education, I have taken many classes and workshops with a number of very talented local watercolor instructors, and many online classes with nationally recognized artists. I am currently a member of the Agawam Community Artists and Artisans and Tobacco Valley Artists. The members of these amazing groups of artists have inspired me and contributed to my life-long learning experience. < Back GEORGE MAREK Mediums / Interests: WOODCARVING, WOODTURNING George Marek is a former Assistant Director of the Horology Department at Gem City College in Quincy, Illinois, where he taught engraving and scrimshaw, jewelry repair, and watchmaking. In 1983, he returned to Westfield, Massachusetts, and opened George Marek Custom Shop, creating detailed engraving and scrimshaw work for custom knife makers, firearm grips, and one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces. When his eyesight began to limit close-detail work, George transitioned to wood carving and wood turning in 2000. Though now retired, he continues to carve with enthusiasm and dedication. In 2004, George entered a national wildlife woodcarving show sponsored by Woodcraft and Woodcarving Illustrated. Competing in the professional fish division, he won the People’s Choice Award for Rainbow Trout Rising to a Fly. Since then, he has earned multiple blue ribbons, including awards from the Mystic Seaport Woodcarving Show (Connecticut), National Wood Carvers Association shows, the Monson Woodworkers Show, and first place with Agawam Community Artists and Artisans. His work has also been published in Chip Chats magazine by the National Wood Carvers Association. George lives in Westfield, Massachusetts, with his wife, Sandra. SMAREK07@COMCAST.NET Next
